Up to now I never stage what I film, allowing the
perception to create the image. I like to play with the
elements emerging between reality and the representation
of reality; in search of the amid space within the seeming
contradictions between reality and imagination.

In the work 'Observatum #1' the typical open windows of the
city of Amsterdam are arranged in the form of a passing reel
whereby space is being used as time. The windows resemble
canvases being enchased by the window frames. Whilst the
spectator seems to be moving alongside he is voyeur, looking
at what could be his own reflection.

In the work 'Observatum #2', the underlying qualities of the
everyday reality is being given shape in a manner, that even
the most mundane situations or movements gain almost iconic
character. Through strong formal arrangements which recall
the compositions of classical paintings, the subtle interactions
of people in public space resemble film stills, or tableaux of
a play, as if they where scenes of a bigger narration.
